Dear TFO Members,
I want to thank the TFO members that renewed their membership and to welcome our new members which include our Cambodian friends.
Thank you to everyone that asked me to get TFO back like it was in the past. Now, when we have meetings or events I need you all there to help.
We will work on the POW/MIA issue and helping our military and Veterans together.
All our TFO meetings will be on the first Sunday of the month at 2:00 p.m. unless there is a holiday or an event. We will meet in the community room of the Owingsville Church of God at 320 Slate Ave, Owingsville, KY. Take I-64 to exit 121 and go north toward Owingsville. Church is on the right as soon as you enter town. You can park in the back where we do the Annual Bike Blessing. Our meeting will be in the basement.
Chris “Piper” Paul is recovering from his accident and hopefully he will be back with us soon.
Saturday, August 25, 2018 Benefit Run for the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Kids in Lexington, KY. We will meet at Gateway Cycle, 620 North Maysville, St. in Mt. Sterling, KY at 12:00 noon and leave at 1:00 pm. We plan on arriving in Lexington, KY at the Shriners on 326 Southland Dr. at 2:00 pm. We will ask for everyone to donate money to the Shriners when we arrive so that when a child is released from the hospital a Shriner will ask the child what their favorite toy is and buy the toy for them. Everyone is welcome to go with us. You will be helping a crippled kid and it will make your day so much better. After stopping at the Shriners we will go to the City Barbeque at 2187 Harrodsburg Rd. for some of the best barbeque in the state. EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to go with us and enjoy great company and great food while helping the kids.
Saturday, September 1st, 2018 –Covered Bridge Poker Run Starting at Gateway Cycles in Mt. Sterling, KY at 620 Maysville, Rd. Sign up starting at 9:00 a.m. and leaving at 11:00 a.m. This will be a scenic ride to the Covered Bridges in Fleming Co., KY. Proceeds will be used to help our POW/MIAs, Military and our Veterans. EVERYONE is invited and appreciated to go with us on this ride.
Sunday, September 2, 2018 TFO Meeting at 2:00 pm at the Owingsville Church of God
September 7,8,& 9, 2018 Freedom Fest, Skidmore, MO. Freedom Fest was one of the best veterans events that lasted for many years. Now some of the organizers and friends meet to enjoy each other’s company in Skidmore, MO. TFO members are welcome so some of us will be riding out for this event. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. – Tenderloin Dinner Benefit Fundraiser for Veterans (for residents of Thompson-Hood Veterans Home in Wilmore and the Homeless Lady Veterans). This will be held at the Owingsville Church of God 320 Slate Ave, Owingsville, KY. Take I-64 exit 121 and go North towards Owingsville and the Church will be on right on Slate Ave. EVERYONE IS WELCOME to attend. WE will need desserts for the meal, volunteers to serve and donations of items for the auction. If you would like to help or donate an item for the auction let us know. Any and all help is appreciated.
This will be a Tenderloin Dinner and Auction with proceeds going to the Christmas projects for theThompson-Hood Veteran’s Home in Wilmore, KY and the Homeless Lady Veterans. Each year we take each of the 155 residents at the Wilmore Veterans Home hand-made Christmas Cards and gifts that they need. We also help the residents at the Lady Veterans Connect with much needed clothing or personal items.
The dinner will start at 4:30 P.M. and the auction will start at 6:00 P.M. Auctioneer will be Phil Copher and his assistant Doug Stone. Cost for the meal will be $7 (includes tenderloin sandwich, chips, slaw, baked beans, dessert and drink). Hot dogs will be available for anyone who doesn’t like tenderloin. Carryout will be available.

Friday, October 26, 2018 at 6:00-8:00 p.m. – Chili Cook-Off Benefit for Homeless Lady Veterans at the Owingsville Church of God 320 Slate Ave, Owingsville, KY. Everyone is welcome and appreciated. Come out and support our homeless lady Veterans. Bring at least a gallon of your favorite chili to have it judged. Trophies will be awarded for best hot, mild, and peoples’ choice.

Wednesday, November 21, 2018 Deadline for Christmas cards for Wilmore Veterans Home and Homeless Lady Veterans. Call me at 859-585-5188 to get the cards to me. We need schools and churches to make cards for the residents at the Wilmore Veterans Home and our Homeless Veterans.
Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. – Visit to Thompson-Hood Veterans Home in Wilmore, KY. We will leave the BP/Days Inn parking lot in Mt. Sterling at 12:00 noon to go to Wilmore and arrive as a group there at 2:00 p.m. We will take Christmas gifts and handmade Christmas cards to the residents there. We ask that you spend at least 5 minutes with the residents when you give their cards to them. You will be blessed by this visit. After our visit to the Thompson-Hood Veterans Home (Wilmore, KY) everyone is welcome to join us for Christmas dinner at one of the best restaurants in Lexington. The address is: Palmers Fresh Grill &Wine Bar, Lakeside at Lexington Green Mall, 161 Lexington Green Circle, Lexington, KY 40503. This restaurant was voted 2016 the fourth best and fresh seafood in the state of KY. I will need a head count a week before if possible of who would like to join us so we can reserve the seats there (859-585-5188) for fellowship and a wonderful meal for the season of giving especially to our veterans! The menu of Palmers is vast and delicious!

Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. – Homeless Women Veterans Christmas Visit. We will leave the BP/Days Inn parking lot in Mt. Sterling, KY at 10:00 a.m. to go to the Old Trapp School which is now Lady Veterans Connect Home. We will take them Christmas gifts and spend time visiting with them.
The Lady Veterans can use donations of new and gently used clothing. Bring any donations of clothing with you on the visit or get to me in case you cannot go with us.

We have had some wonderful events so far including, Memorial Day Patriotic Service at Owingsville Church of God (COG). Veterans Home and Homeless Lady Veterans visits and Independence Day Patriotic service in Flemingsburg with Eric Carlson, and other memorable events where we helped other Veterans.
